3 Event Strategies You Can Use from New York Fashion Week
Fashion Week has officially taken over New York this week as celebs, influencers, and fashion enthusiasts attend shows and parties. As we enter the final few days of Fashion Week, I wanted to do a recap of highlights from a Publicist’s perspective and how these tactics can be incorporated into your next event.
Swag Bags
If you want to wow your audience make sure you have gift bags that are filled with items that resonate with your audience. For example, I had the pleasure to attend the Textures on the Runway show, which focuses on hair and the bags were filled with full size product. All my friends and I could talk about were all the great products that were given out.
Publicity Stunt
Teyana Taylor absolutely stole the show during fashion week. Taylor took the runway at Italian streetwear brand GCDS's show on Friday, and Phillip Plein's show the following night. During both events, Taylor completely stole the show with her runway performances. Social media exploded with mentions of Teyana and the shows she participated in. What ways can you make your next event stand out?
Newsjacking with Rihanna
Newsjacking is the art and science of injecting your ideas into a breaking news story and generating tons of media coverage and social media engagement. It was genius of Rihanna and her team to launch the beauty collection during fashion week because reporters in the beauty and fashion space were already in town to attend shows. Think about what’s going on in your industry and insert yourself into the conversation.
